Stéphane Nicoll

Stéphane is an experienced software engineer and open source contributor with a strong focus on Java enterprise development, software architecture, and technical leadership. Over the years, he has contributed to and led a wide range of initiatives, including the development of critical infrastructure in logistics and geospatial systems, as well as the design of enterprise frameworks widely adopted across the industry.

Stéphane is a core contributor to the Spring Framework and Spring Boot open source projects, and previously led Spring Initializr and start.spring.io, supporting developers worldwide in getting started with Spring. As a former member of the Apache Maven PMC, he has been actively involved in open source software governance and evolution for two decades.

As a member of the Spring team, Stéphane has had the privilege of working on various aspects of Spring Boot and Spring Framework, with a focus on understanding its inner workings and collaborating with the fantastic community of contributors.

Spring Boot 1.3.3 and 1.4.0.M1 available now

On behalf of the team, it is my pleasure to announce that Spring Boot 1.3.3 and 1.4.0.M1 have been released today. Spring Boot 1.3.3 includes 60 fixes and a selection of improvements and dependency upgrades. This release is a recommended upgrade for all users.

Spring Boot 1.4.0.M1 is available in the Spring milestone repository and provides a number of improvements and new features. For a complete list of changes, and for upgrade instructions, see the Spring Boot 1.4 Release Notes on the WIKI. The reference documentation has also been updated.

Spring Framework 4.2.5 available now

It is my pleasure to announce that Spring Framework 4.2.5 is available from repo.spring.io and Maven Central! This fifth maintenance release in the 4.2 line contains 40 fixes and improvements and is a recommended upgrade for all 4.x users, in particular also from 4.1 now.

Our next stop is the first release candidate of Spring Framework 4.3 next month, with many key features (including several core container refinements) available in the snapshots already. Please give a 4.3 snapshot a try and let us know if you encounter any regressions.

Spring Boot 1.3.1 and 1.2.8 available now

Spring Boot 1.2.8 and 1.3.1 have been released and are available now from repo.spring.io and Maven Central.

If you haven't tried Spring Boot 1.3 yet, now may be the time to do so: 1.3.1 is a maintenance release that brings 126 fixes and improvements, almost half of those being pull requests. Thanks again to our amazing contributors!

Spring Boot 1.2.8 is a maintenance release with a selection of fixes and improvements.

As we have fixed a security vulnerability, we highly recommend an immediate upgrade for all Spring Boot users.

Spring Framework 4.2.3 available now

On behalf of the team I am pleased to announce that Spring Framework 4.2.3 is now available from repo.spring.io and Maven Central. This third maintenance release in the 4.2 line contains over 60 fixes and improvements.

We strongly recommend an immediate upgrade to 4.2.3 for all 4.x users. This release is the foundation for the upcoming Spring Boot 1.3 GA release coming up very soon.

Spring Boot 1.2.7 available now

Spring Boot 1.2.7 has been released and is available now from repo.spring.io and Maven Central.

This maintenance release includes a number of fixes and most importantly updates the managed Spring Framework dependency to version 4.1.8 (which includes an important security fix). Spring Boot itself also includes a security fix that impacts applications using Undertow.

We recommend an immediate upgrade for all Spring Boot users.

Spring Framework 4.2.2, 4.1.8 and 3.2.15 available now

On behalf of the team I am pleased to announce that the Spring Framework 4.2.2, 4.1.8 and 3.2.15 maintenance releases are available now.

Aside from fixing various minor issues across the framework, these releases are designed to prevent Reflected File Download attacks; check the corresponding CVE report for details. We recommend an immediate upgrade for all Spring Framework 3.x and 4.x users.

Spring Framework 4.2.2 also provides WebSocket support for the recently released servers Undertow 1.3 and GlassFish 4.1.1, as well as fine-tuned CORS and JavaScript support. This release serves as the foundation of the upcoming Spring Boot 1.3

Spring Framework 4.2.1 Available Now

It is my pleasure to announce that Spring Framework 4.2.1 is available from repo.spring.io and Maven Central. This first maintenance release in the 4.2 line contains a wide range of fixes for regressions and other issues reported against 4.2 GA.

4.2.1 also contains minor enhancements: refinement of our Jackson support (see Sébastien's updated blog post), meta-annotation processing improvements (@AliasFor), third-party dependencies alignment (including Hibernate 5.0 GA).
