On behalf of the community, I am pleased to announce that the Release Candidate 1 (RC1) of the Spring Cloud 2026.0.0-RC1 Release Train is available today. The release can be found in the Spring milestone repository. You can check out the 2026.0.0-RC1 release notes for more information.

Notable Changes in the 2026.0.0-RC1 Release Train

This release is based on Spring Boot 4.2.0-RC1.

Spring Cloud Bus is no longer its own project and has been incorporated into Spring Cloud Stream. The coordinates of all the Spring Cloud Bus artifacts remain the same so the move should be seamless to projects which depend on Spring Cloud Bus.

Spring Cloud Config

• Spring Cloud Config clients now support OAuth 2 for authorizing with the Config Server (#2348)

Spring Cloud Gateway

• Spring Cloud Gateway MVC now supports websockets (#3442)

Spring Cloud Kubernetes

• Spring Cloud Kubernetes Configuration Watcher now has high availability support (#1828)
• Fabric8 upgraded to 8.0.0
• Kubernetes Java Client upgraded to 27.0.0

Spring Cloud Function

• Deprecation of RSocket module
• Deprecation of gRPC module

Spring Cloud Stream

• Spring Cloud Bus is now part of Spring Cloud Stream (#3279)
• Deprecation of reactive Kafka Binder due to this
• Deprecation of Schema Registry component.
